Naval chief for Southwestern Philippines Rear Admiral Alex Palma confirmed the release of Umar Jaleel,a Sri lkankan National and a member of Brussels-based Nonviolent Peaceforce after being kidnapped for almost three months by an armed group connected to Abu Sayyaf Bandits. He was freed last Wednesday in Tipo Tipo, Basilan. His release came two weeks after a group of men freed three teachers they have abducted last January in Zamboanga City.
